Havana: Memory/Still/Always (2006-2020)
Havana, the heart of Cuba and all Cubans, stands as one of the world's most photographed cities, earning its place among the '7 wonder cities' in tourism rankings. Yet, beyond its tourist allure, Havana holds a deeply personal significance in my life—a place intertwined with memories, loves, and indescribable emotions. As a child, I played on El Prado boulevard and watched movies at the children's theater on San Rafael boulevard. Returning after high school marked the beginning of my immigrant journey, a quest for freedom and self-discovery.
While Havana may not be my birthplace or current home, it holds a special place in my heart unlike any other city. Through street photography, I captured the essence of my reunion with Havana—the streets, the people, the everyday moments. Each image serves as a visual testimony to my connection with this vibrant city. Whether capturing moments of grace or simply embracing the opportunity for something extraordinary, my lens is drawn to the captivating scenes of Havana's streets. If I were ever to lose myself in the world, Havana is where I would want to be found, wandering its colorful streets.
