Downtown Miami keeps changing, new apartment buildings keep being built and gentrification is happening at a very fast pace. Last Friday when I was walking by Downtown's oldest neighborhood of Overtown, I noticed that construction keep moving north and it keep changing the overall life of this struggling community that is trying to survive the effects of luxury condominiums built next to their residences. I have passed by this building several times, but at this point in my career as a photographer I do believe that if I want to document anything I need to get close to it even if I'm not familiar or comfortable with the area. So I spent some time admiring the work of art of this building which I believe helps show that gentrification isn't always a good thing for this neighborhood and their residents need to protest and show that they are a community with a history, with hope and aspirations.
